Bikes and Crocs (By: Jacob)

A couple weeks ago we went on a really cool bike ride through the countryside of Siem Reap, Cambodia.  I thought it was really amazing how we were biking through a city and all of a sudden, in a blink of an eye, it was the countryside. I liked biking through a village because it's interesting to watch their daily life. We watched people harvest rice and build houses. When we were biking we saw more than 1 kid on a bike at a time. The bikes they used were way too big for them, they had to stand up to bike. Throughout the entire bike ride my chain kept falling off so after a couple of times our tour guide put the bike in the truck that was following us, so my brother ran alongside it all the way until we got back to the city. Before we knew it, we were back at our hotel ready for an afternoon of swimming.

Another thing I really enjoyed was going to the crocodile farm in Battambang. When we got there, we walked up these stairs and looked around, there were hundreds of crocodiles 6 to 7 feet down. The railings were really low so if you slipped you might fall in. After that we walked a couple hundred feet to another area of crocodiles, but these were the little babies. In the area with the babies there was a huge lake and one night a couple of crocodiles escaped, and got into the lake killing a few dogs on the way. When the tourguide told us, we were amazed  how little she seemed to care. The crocodiles there were from 8 months to 2 years old. I got to hold an 8 month-old crocodile. When we were walking through the area with the big guys, I felt very uncomfortable because there were really no railings for the walkway. If you ever go to Cambodia you must come to Battambang and visit the crocodile farm, but remember be careful where you step.
